Description:
Thallus is a thin, papery blade of deeply lacerated, wedge-shaped segments to at least 20 cm (8 in) in height and 3 cm (1.2 in) wide. Blades are frequently fertile, with either cystocarpic bumps or small, elliptical tetrasporangial sori. Habitat: This species is often epiphytic on Neoptilota asplenioides as well as other algae in the low intertidal and subtidal of semi-exposed habitats. Similar taxa: Callophyllis, Kallymeniopsis, Palmaria, Devaleraea.
