Description:
Thallus is coarse, reddish-brown to black, growing to 17 cm (7 in) tall. Branching of main axis is primarily indeterminate, with slender, terete, radially arranged branches. Thallus is attached by a discoidal holdfast. Habitat: This resilient perennial is found on rocks often in tide pools in the mid intertidal of semi-protected to protected habitats. Similar taxa: Neorhodomela aculeata, N. larix, Cryptosiphonia woodii, Odonthalia comosa.
