Description: Thallus is reddish brown, reaching 20 cm (8 in) tall, attached by a cushion-like holdfast. This solid but soft, rubbery cord usually grows in clumps and may be irregularly brached. Habitat: This is a summer annual, which grows on barnacles or rock in the high to mid intertidal of semi-exposed to exposed habitats. Similar taxa: Commonly misidentified as a worm-like invertebrate.

Comments:
The occurrence of this species west of the Kenai Peninsula has not been verified.
