Description:
Thallus is dark red, finely branched, mostly under 7 cm (2 in) tall; branching occurs in opposite pairs, with both branchlets having the potential to elongate, often with additional indeterminate branches developing in the axils of these branchlets. Habitat: This perennial is found on rock, other algae or even animals in the subtidal of semi-protected to semi-exposed habitats. Similar taxa: Neoptilota spp., Ptilota spp.
