A native of Juneau, Alaska, Sandra has studied the seaweeds of Alaska since obtaining
a M. Sc. in marine ecology from the University of British Columbia in 1973. She
has authored more than 50 scientific papers on seaweeds and is a co-author of half
a dozen books, including North Pacific Seaweeds with Rita O'Clair.
Sandra resides in North Saanich, B.C., with her husband Denis and cat Natasha but
makes frequent forays to Alaska to continue her research. Additional biographical
